I sometimes don't feel like I have made jumps forward, then I look at these videos and back through my diary and see how far I have come since last August, where I could hardly jump off the ground or stand for longer than few minutes to now doing over 100km a week and getting PBs most weeks on tests. Even managed a cheeky box jump the other day, and from only just leaving the ground 10months ago to jumping a respectable height I think, considering I don't do much explosive work anymore this is not a bad jump....
This is photo is using a belt squat, it works your legs and keeps them strong. I cant put a weights bar on my neck, so this is a good way of getting a similar effect to that of squatting.

Racing in Germany
Last weekend was World cup time in Germany and I was very focused to come away with a win and a great performance. It was going to hurt, but no pain like the pain a year ago learning to walk. This race had falling not even 11 months out of hospital and only really a few months into proper training. I was very happy with training in the lead up to the race and new the 4 was ready to go fast.

Long way from the Manor hospital - Team work
It was such a great feeling to be back in a competition environment after last year and not knowing if I would ever be back or even be able to do sport at a good level again. So with that in mind we arrived on the start line of the final on Saturday night ready to go... Not the best start but then into some nice rowing saw us pull away from the rest of the field, with 150m left to go I made a massive mistake and caught a crab....... the boat stopped, I could see the other boats coming and managed to stay relaxed, we got going and crossed the line first... what a feeling and it was still a pretty fast time considering we pretty much stopped and started again.

Always a nice feeling when you win
It was a great race and to come back from all last year with a win was an a amazing feeling.
No time to rest, home and right back into hard training, and I love it. The feeling of hurting through training is such an amazing feeling and when it really hurts I think back to this time last year and no pain can come close to that pain.... The pain of learning to walk, or waking up in ITU and hurting all over like I have never hurt, feeling so weak that I could not move. Then the not knowing if I was ever going be able to move my arm again or walk right. All these memories flash through your mind when you stand on the podium and for a second time stops and you hold onto that moment, that was something I never did before surgery as I took it all for granted.
