Back from a hard camp in Spain and now into final preparation for the worlds - All is going well and I feel ready mentally and physically...
It was this week last year that I had just came off of walking sticks and had started my rehab at the IRU in Bisham Abbey.
The video below is a part of that transition and how if you trust the process of rehab and training, how the body can adapt. I all most find it hard to believe this time last year I could hardly walk and now am doing box jumps to a fairly respectful height and getting faster and stronger every month. The photo is of us doing racing starts in Spain with James at stroke.

Ready for worlds
It just shows if you have the right support system around you, if  you desire it more than anything, and are willing to give 110% the results will come.
My dream of making it back to sport has came true - Has it sank in, not really,  but as I watch back the videos and through photos, I  cant believe it is me in them, It feels like a dream and I have just woke up.

I  know there is a long way to go in my rehab, and there is still so many things I can do better, however I am just so happy to be giving this second chance and I am grabbing it with everything.

4 training in the sun on lake Banyloes Spain.
Sitting here in the team hotel recovering from a tough day on the water watching the sunset over the mountains. I am loving this feeling of being tired through hard training rather than where I was this time last year stuck in rehab with no clear way forward.
Training has been going well and I managed to PB on the ergo a few weeks ago and am now training for the World Championships in under 4 weeks time.
It is a dream come true to be back in high performance sport and to be honest I really was unsure of making it back at all when I was in rehab. Looking back now as last year sinks in more, I can say that I am surprised that I am sitting here with a new PB on ergo and in preparation for the worlds.

Through this process I can truly say I have not rested the whole time, pushing everyday and it has made the recovery go so fast. I totally believe if I had sat about waiting to get better,  I would still be in a  pretty bad way.
It just shows that sport is a crucial part of our lives and to be healthy and fit is so important, especially if you ever have to over come illness.

Everyday I work on ways to get fitter and stronger, each day I approach with new goals and objectives. I approach these as if it was the only thing in life. I give each of them a 100% focus and commitment. I know I will get out what I put in, and this is such an important time to be putting in all the right stuff.

These photos show a combination of balance work and ketabell work.
I have found great benefit from both during my rehab. It is sometimes hard for my mind to understand whats happened with regards to training and this is what I find most difficult as my mind still thinks I can throw weights about. The balance work is so important in preparing the body for training and in the recovery from surgery. Also plays a important part in injury prevention

Doing these drills and exercise has been of great benefit for my rehab and are constantly been changed to challenge my mind and body.

It has been a very tough road but a journey that I have learned so much about myself and health that has opened my eyes to so much.

Balance work
I ask myself each day, " will this make me healthy" and if the answer is yes then I give it my all, if I know its not going to make be better then I don't give it my time and discard it.  This can be tough, especially around food, but I know how important getting the right nutrition is in helping my body recover. This is almost the most important part, as the damage on the outside is probably nothing to whats happened on a cellular level. So if I am going do all this exercises, I must get the right fuel in and high antioxidants so my body can recover fully.
